Today is Tuesday, and we meditate on the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. These Mysteries invite us to reflect on the passion and suffering of Jesus, offering us a deeper understanding of His sacrifice and love. Let’s begin the Sorrowful Mysteries.
The Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Say the Apostles’ Creed
Hold the crucifix and recite:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.
Say the Our Father
On the first large bead, pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Say Three Hail Marys
For an increase in the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity:
On the next three small beads, say:
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Say the Glory Be
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
1. The First Sorrowful Mystery: The Agony in the Garden
(Before each decade, announce the Mystery and reflect on it.
Say the Our Father on the large bead.)
Jesus knew the time had come for him to be betrayed and killed.
“He threw himself on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want but what you want.”
Contemplate this scene— Let Jesus’ prayer be yours as we pray.
Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,

5. The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The Crucifixion
It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land, until three in the afternoon while the sun’s light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” Having said this, he breathed his last.”
Mary stood at the foot of the cross. See through her eyes, feel the sword pierce her heart as we pray.

Say the Hail, Holy Queen
After completing the five decades, recite the Hail, Holy Queen prayer:
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Closing Prayer
Let us pray.
O God, whose only-begotten Son,
by his life, death, and resurrection,
has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life,
grant, we beseech thee,
that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary
of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain
and obtain what they promise,
through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
St. Michael Prayer
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help,
or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
Finish with the Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
